Create and distribute quarterly lector schedule for Sundays and Holy Days either by assigning or offering sign-up sheets (Christmas & New Years)
Provide new lector training and lector retreats as needed
Participate/staff annual Ministry Fair and create appropriate material (if necessary)
Serve as member of Liturgy Committee which meets monthly
Distribute annual Lector Workbook and collect money for same. Provide office with number of books needed by mid July
Provide updates for the Lector Web page to the parish Web Master
Provide special communications to lectors as requested by pastor or office, e.g. death in the parish
Responsible for upkeep of lector membership list and lector guidelines
For Palm Sunday and Good Friday, Gospel readings are divided into parts. Print and distribute to each assigned reader. Suggest that the assigned readers at their respective masses practice together before their actual readings
REQUIREMENTS
Confirmed Catholic and registered member of the parish and selected with approval from the pastor/deacon
Desire to serve the parish and continually improve the Lector Ministry
Should have two coordinators to share the responsibilities
TIME COMMITMENT
At least a three year overall commitment
One to two hours a month preparing the next month's intercessions
One to two hours a quarter preparing the next quarter's lector schedule
Two hours a month attending Liturgy Committee meeting
A few hours a year preparing (may be conducting) a lector retreat
A few hours a year preparing for and staffing Lector Ministry Fair
A few hours each year preparing the special Gospel readings for Palm Sunday and Good Friday (if not using the prior years' readings)
